Cite (aka Write)

  Microsoft Word

  • Cite-While-You-Write Plugin connects EndNote to Microsoft Word
  • It is automatically installed when you install the desktop version.
  • Troubleshooting: you can re-install it by signing into your account and going to the "Downloads tab".

   Google Docs (Partial)

  • EndNote allows you to insert citations into a Google Doc once, but once it is in there, you cannot edit that citation from EndNote. It becomes text that you can edit just like any other text in your document that you have typed by hand. The connection between your Google Doc and EndNote is not dynamic. Rather it is static.

Cite (aka Write)

  Microsoft Word

  • A citation plugin connects Mendeley to Microsoft Word.
  • After you install the desktop version, it will usually guide you through the steps of setting it up.
  • Troubleshooting: you can re-install it by going to the website's downloads page.

   Google Docs (Partial)

  • Mendeley allows you to insert citations into a Google Doc once, but once it is in there, you cannot edit that citation from Mendeley. It becomes text that you can edit just like any other text in document that you have typed by hand. The connection between your Google Doc and EndNote is not dynamic. Rather it is static.

Cite (aka Write)

   Microsoft Word

  • Cite-in-Microsoft-Word Plugin  or Citation Manager Add-in
  • There are two ways to connect RefWorks to Microsoft Word.
  • (1) Sign into your account and go to the "Tools" page to download the "Cite-in-Microsoft-Word" Plugin (you will find it under "Tools")
  • (2) If you have Word 2016, go to the Microsoft Store (from within the Word application) and find the RefWorks "Citation Manager" Add-in.

   Google Docs (full integration)

  • Connect RefWorks to Goolge Docs
  • When you are signed in, go to the "Tools" tab to get Refwork's Cite-in-Google-Docs add-on so that you connect your RefWorks library to Google Docs and live edit assignments with your classmates using the same list of references.
  • Changes you make to the reference in RefWorks will be reflected in the Google Doc.
